Here is the straight talk on “How Does Bluwood Work”. One of the key elements to the chemistry is the infusion film named Perfect Barrier™. The infusion film is a barrier that blocks moisture from raw lumber. The second key element mixed in with the Perfect Barrier is a common earth mineral named “Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate” this is reffered to as DOT or commonly called Borate. The DOT is a well known natural insecticide for termite prevention. The wood preservative is applied as a topical coating to all six sides of raw lumber. Once Perfect Barrier hits a wood fiber it is bonded for life. It is a known fact that raw lumber has approximately 16% moisture content in the center of the wood. Borates are well known for properties of leaching or being drawn towards moisture. Intially upon application of Perfect Barrier, the Borates get drawn or leached into the center of the wood where the termites like to live. The center of the wood has a high moisture content and termites love that.

Perfect Barrier is semi-vapor permeable film allowing the intial moisture content to slowly dry the lumber preventing shrinking and warpage. The result is dry, straight lumber with borates in the center. Now, the infusion film takes over, locking the borates into the center of the wood for life. Remember, the infusion film prevents moisture from penetrating the wood therefore eliminating the source of mold and wood rot. Insects require moist environments to survive and cannot reside anymore as they will be dehydrated. This chemistry was well conceived and is the best wood preservative ever developed.
